My husband and I were recently given a 2000 Coleman bayside elite and we're in need of advice on wether or non to put the fourth dimension and money into replacing the roof. Our current situation is that the abs is completely croaky off and we have heard some about grizzly grip and nosotros're wondering if that is our all-time bet or if there are more than inexpensive means to go. As well, with zero experience with this, I'1000 wondering how difficult information technology is to do. My husband is very handy and we have some other handy friend to assist. Is this something that is a somewhat easy task? Tips?

It is not hard to do information technology, only time consuming and a bit messy. If you tin paint you tin do it - providing your underlying foam and perhaps fiberglass/foam is intact. If there are big chunks of foam damage, if you have interior leaks, if you have a badly sagging roof, if the interior ABS is coming off, then information technology becomes a Big job. If none of those biggies exist then it is a matter of prep and painting. Here is what I have read (there are lots of other posts on the subject - LOTS).
- If large parts of the ABS are missing, so remove what is left down to the foam or fiberglass mat over the foam (some have it some don't.
- Repair gouges or missing chunks of the foam - some have used foam, some have used bondo, some have used other stuff but y'all need to level things out for a good looking task.
- Make clean the foam layer equally best yous can - remove mold, tree sap, etc to give a practiced surface.
- Order what you desire to put on to replace the now missing ABS - Grizzly Grip has been a become to and I take used it and found it easy to employ but a bit expensive. Others have used various pickup bed liner products with varying success - you tin can buy it in pigment on cans, spray cans, or practise your prep piece of work and take information technology to a store that will professionally apply it.
- Some have put Henry's Tropicool on the foam or on the GG or bedliner as a flexible and waterproof layer. If your Bayside is in otherwise corking shape, you know that it is a very nice PUP. The front box is very overnice - adds a lot to the await. I remember those who did a full ABS outer removal take had some success, at to the lowest degree in the brusk term. Time will tell if it holds upwards. I've been lucky with mine, lots of little cracks have started to announced now that she is nearing twenty, but it is still intact so now I'm trying to keep the water from seeping into the cracks with some TropiCool - I did the GG merely not a removal job, simply a meridian glaze and it was too brittle to stand up the expansion/contraction of the ABS nether it. Time will tell.

Endeavor mixing MEK and ABD bb's at a l/50 ratio. The MEK will break down the bb's into an ABS paste similar form. Identify the paste over the cracks of the roof and press into cracks. Allow to dry then sand using fine steel wool. Apply thin coat of same paste on entire roof. Give another steel wool sanding using a sander. Paint and be happy

Unfortunately that dosent always piece of work. If there is whatever wet under the abs, you will see new great in nigh a twelvemonth. Best bet is to remove information technology .
